Lauren A. Fairbanks, the founder of Moontower Public Affairs, Inc. (MPA), opened her lobby practice in 2022. She has worked in and around the Texas Capitol for over 15 years.

Lauren began her state government career with then-Senator and current Texas State Comptroller Glenn Hegar. Following her service to the state, she worked at Waterloo Lobby & Advocacy, Inc. (WLA), to further client interests at the Texas Capitol. Lauren then went on to be Director of Government Affairs & Operations at the Texas Association of Manufacturers, where she worked until a relocation to Florida. WLA welcomed Lauren back to the team ahead of the 2021 legislative session, where she worked until starting her own firm.

Lauren has an extensive understanding of state government and the legislative process in addition to well-established relationships with key policymakers and their staffs. As a legislative aide to then-Senator Glenn Hegar, Lauren had a key role in developing and implementing various public policy efforts. Her time in Hegar’s office coincided with his appointment as chair of the influential Texas Sunset Advisory Commission. Lauren played an integral role in Hegar’s passage of Sunset reform bills for numerous agencies and gained a vast understanding and inside perspective of the Sunset process.

Lauren grew up outside of Lubbock and is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in Agriculture Journalism and Communications. Lauren lives with her husband and children in Austin.
